ATL-NRT-MNL
Some random thoughts that I jotted down while en route to Manila. Twitter/FB withdrawal since I had no access to my Droid phone. I was either extremely bored or just thought that the world should not be deprived of my brilliant comments. Or both.
Dec. 25 - flying from Atlanta to Manila
1. Itinerary changed; skipping LAX layover. Thoroughly convinced I missed the chance to run into @Zachary Levi at the airport.
2. On the plane, watched Chuck, Big Bang Theory and an Israel documentary. Started to watch Eat, Pray, Love. Dozed off halfway into it.
3. Now over the Gulf of Alaska. 6hrs 45 mins to Tokyo. Time now measured in how many movies/TV shows I can watch.
4. Compulsive shopping at the airport earlier:bought not 1 but 2 travel pillows. Couldn’t decide between Tootsie Roll or Neck Pillow. Now,not enough space in my seat.
5. On plane toilets: despite the inconvenience of the small space, always quite an adventure.
6. Why hasn’t anyone invented a better way of operating a faucet in the plane lav. I need more water than the 2-3 second bursts it provides. And I can’t wash my hands without rubbing them together.
7. Maybe they have better faucets at First Class. One day, I’ll find out.
8. Issue with trash disposal hatch - always deathly afraid of touching the surface but compelled to push paper towel all the way through. Again, innovation needed.
9. On lack of Twitter: needed to write down tweets on my notebook as they come. I wonder how people shared their brilliant quips with the world before. Oh I know: they had real, live friends to talk to.
10. On lack of Google: can’t research advanced plane faucet/lavatory systems.
11. Wearing my NERD shirt on the flight. Now pressured to live up to it. Very selective with my movie/TV selections in case person seating in 39C is looking. Can’t let him catch me watching Justin Bieber feature.
12. Snack time at 6hrs, 19 mins away. Now over Anchorage. Seating in middle row,not close enough to window to see Sarah Palin’s Alaska.
13. Zzzzzzzz….
14. Slept my way through Tokyo layover, near TV that had on a weird (aren’t they all?) Japanese game show version of Amazing Race. Hopping was involved.
15. Almost there.
16. On the way to explore the lavatory at other end of plane, I ran into a good friend who happened to be flying home from Tokyo on same flight. Nice to see you Rip!
17. I’m home!
18. Waiting for my bags. Fascinating to watch the nuances and quirks of baggage claim. It is at times like these that I remember to get super standout luggage. Like maybe an old WWII bomb casing. Hard to grab off the belt though.
19. Really, really home! Hello Manila!
