    Go-To list - Atlanta part 1

After living in metro Atlanta for 8 years, I have a list of my Go-To places and businesses that have consistently provided good service/results/products and that make me truly feel like a local.

    1.  Ming’s BBQ - HK-style Peking Duck, comfort food roast pork that is close enough to Lechon Kawali given the right amount of Mang Tomas’ sauce; yummy congee, decent soy sauced chicken.  Honey BBQ pork makes for an easy dish to bring to potlucks.

    2131 Pleasant Hill Rd.
    Duluth, GA 30096
    (770) 623-9996

    2. Barking Up the Right Tree (pet/house sitting service) - Teresa is Mimzy’s best friend when we travel, plus she checks in on the house.

    3.  Star Studio/Sen Salon - ask for Ben for a great haircut or color/highlights for a great price. Call ahead.

    5145 Buford Hwy NE # A, Doraville, GA 30340-1123(770) 220-0168

    4.  Five-Star Auto Service - my little talyer in Duluth; Jose is honest, knowledgeable and trustworthy.  Repairs cost much less than going to the dealership/casa for the same service.  Waiting room is air-conditioned but not very comfy though - bring a book or a laptop to pass the time.

    5.  Haru Ichiban - authentic Japanese ramen, great sushi and other good stuff

    6.  Thai Restaurant of Norcross - Their BBQ chicken is the closest thing I have when I’m craving for Aristocrat-style chicken (minus the peanut sauce).  Beef BBQ ribs, coconut soup and good old reliable Pad Thai are sure bets.

    7.  Fab’rik - great selection of clothes, plus you’re less likely to run into someone else wearing the same outfit.  Watch out for Living Social/Groupon coupons.

    8.  Mojito’s Cuban-American Bistro - if you’re special to us, we’ve probably brought you to or told you about one of our favorite restaurants.  If we haven’t, I’m telling you now.  Guava BBQ Baby Ribs = heaven.  Leave room for their fantastic desserts.

    9.  Northpoint Church - not a business but definitely one of my favorite places in Atlanta.  Andy Stanley is a gifted speaker who knows how to speak about God stuff in today’s lingo without diluting the message.  Their website is a treasure trove of awesome resources.  Try the Life App series for starters.  Church services are streamed live online every Sunday at 11am.

    10.  First Baptist of Atlanta - It is a huge blessing to be in the same town as Dr. Charles Stanley and to have the opportunity to listen to him deliver his message live right there in his church.  Good, solid teaching that inspires and instructs.
